Feelin’ the sun

Don’t worry! I am going to go ahead and buy her parents a bag of sticks for Christmas - because they are going to need them to beat back the boys in a few years. We finally were able to go outside and shoot for this babe after a rainy day made us reschedule, but it was all worth it. And she was a real trooper with all my crazy ideas (and four outfit changes).

On other fronts, our Senior schedule is filling up. So if you have been meaning to make an appointment, you should definitely call to reserve a time as we are only doing 25 this year. It has been a baby boom around here lately, so I am looking forward to getting out there with the seniors and getting really creative (and, as always, totally crazy).

Because I am a huge Coldplay fan, in honor of them being #1 with Viva la Vida, some music for your listening pleasure:

Seeing Double

The twins were a dream to shoot. They slept so well, let me wrap them, and snuggled - so cute.  Mom loves sepia prints so we are finishing a lot of the pics that way, and I thought I would show that technique off here for you all to see (the brownish toned one).

On another note apparently, there was an article about HiF Photography in the local Citizen weekend edition paper. I have not seen it yet but am very excited.  If anyone runs across it, please email me a link as I have not been able to track it down yet.

Father’s Day

We are back from a great, long weekend away; and, as usual, I am trying to catch up on all that was left behind in favor of fun. I have had several great sessions lately that I want to share here, and I am going to try desperately to get to it all. Oh, I absolutely must share the twin newborns I shot right before I left - just beautiful!

We spent Father’s Day in Boston and had a great brunch with some family at an awesome restaurant on a lazy, rainy day. It was perfect. I can’t tell you how blessed I am to have such a wonderful husband who is the most amazing father. I really could not have asked for anyone better to raise my child with. -love you, sweetie

Gaggle

Like a gaggle of geese, that is what it sounded like at this daycare. I photographed all of the kids the other day and had a great time getting to know them all and watch them play.

We are headed out on a jet plane tomorrow morning to Boston, and Little Dude is very excited about the plane ride and seeing his Uncle Jake.

The office will be closed until next Wednesday, so if you have any pressing questions or want to schedule a shoot, please email Steph at steph@heartisfound.com, and she will get you all squared away.

a little something for your listening pleasure:

Travelin’

Six months already! I love watching them grow and change. It never gets old! Is she not becoming the most beautiful child? Mom is going to half to shop around for some really big sticks to beat off all the boys.

I wanted to let everyone know we are leaving the office for a few days next week. I will be returning phone calls, but email will have to go unanswered until my return (I have no idea how the internet access will be, and I am going to be very busy). We are traveling to Boston to do some shooting and some visiting and some doing of nothing. Later this year we are also going to be traveling to LA and the surrounding areas. If you are interested in a shoot, send me an email, and I will let you know if I can fit it in. If you are interested in my schedule for Boston, let me know now as my time will be limited and will go on a first-come-first-serve basis.

On a side note, I have started adding some of the music I listen to here. I spend a lot of time an my computer proofing, and I like to listen to stuff that makes me think of happiness and light ;)

Here come the waves

I’m finally getting caught up, and now we are getting ready to go to Boston. This is just how summer goes, right? Well, here are a few from the awesome wedding at the beach. It really was great to witness love out in the wide open while life was going on all around us: kids playing on the beach, people walking their dogs… The experience really made me think about how all of the love I see and feel while doing the smallest things is the most important love of all. Thank you for sharing your special day with me. It really was an honor.

engaging

Alright, here goes: the first ever wedding-ish post here at Heart is Found. I am profoundly nervous, so I will just rip off the band-aid fast. As I was not in this wedding (because it was a casual beach thing with just bride, groom, and close family & friends), I felt comfortable doing it and really did have a blast. These first few images are from the engagement session we did the day before, right around sunset on the beach. More to come of the wedding…

Here comes baby

Last December I did mom and dad’s maternity shoot - and now for the grand unveiling of new baby. She is three months old now and just beautiful. She handled my crazy ideas so well and even fell asleep outside on a blanket in the grass - soooo sweet.

We just got back last night from shooting my great friend Audra’s wedding on the coast of NC. It was the first time I have ever shot a wedding, and it was fun though totally crazy. I know now that if I ever decide to offer weddings through here then I am going to have to second shoot with someone first so I can see how the real wedding professionals do it. I will share some of the pics here tomorrow. Until then, have a great Wednesday!

to the ocean

Well, school is about to end, the fields are in bloom, and I am going to have a crazy 3-year-old around 24/7 for the next 8 weeks. What is a woman to do? Go to a field! Yeah, the yellow flowers were unavoidable; they had been beckoning me since they first showed themselves. and I finally broke down. On another note, we are headed to the beach for a wedding which I am photographing for my great friend Audra. Hopefully she and the husband-to-be will put up with my torture. I must run and pack and do a million other things. When I get back I will share some of the great sessions from the past week and beach pics.

Have a great weekend!

Boys are fun

This is what happens at my house on any given afternoon as the sun is setting and the heat is starting to let up: an all out battle of the sticks. For the longest time it was “don’t run with sticks!” or “stop trying to hit me with that piece of string!” Now it’s “try not to poke your eye out!” Some times you just have to join them!

I have been sick yet again. My little piece of bacteria love (aka little dude) keeps bringing home the germs and getting me infected with all sorts of beastly bugs, but I am full of antibiotics and well on my way to mending. I am really excited for this time of year because it is school picture time. I am starting a new project with little dude’s school where we are doing “Portraits at Work.” It is a study of each child as they work. It really is fascinating to see them so engrossed in educating themselves, and it’s a new way to document your child’s formative years.

We are also well into our BIG CONTEST. For those of you who don’t already know, anybody who has had a session with us this year with a child under the age of 13 is automatically entered and can win a free Premier package for their next session, which is a $1200 value. We are putting together a show of my work in a public venue to culminate in the announcement of the winner sometime in September.

On Senior News, we have kicked of the Senior rush with a bang of great kids, and am looking forward to another great summer of photographing all the great Seniors who are looking to that last blast of a year in high school. We are only doing about 20 Seniors this year so make sure you call and book your session soon as we are filling up fast.

The contest from last week was awesome, we had so many great guesses, and everyone who even tried got a set of HIF actions (we hope they are enjoying them). The answer was THE DUDE from The Big Lebowski!

Until next time!
