Is he not too cute?!

For those that live here in Atlanta and are interested in a great cause, I wanted to tell you about an event to which Heart Is Found is contributing. Christian City, a campus of people and land, devoted to the cause of housing and nurturing homeless, abused, and neglected children, is having a very large fund-raising event at the Georgia Aquarium on November 1st. Among other things there will be a silent auction. We have donated to this auction a session with Heart is Found Photography and a leather-bound session album full of prints from that session. To learn more about the event or to sponsor a child in need, please visit Christian City’s website. It is our hope that we can help raise funds for this amazing organization.
I had the pleasure of shooting a friend of mine and her three beautiful daughters yesterday. Are they not the prettiest? Dad has got his work cut out for him.

The leaves are starting to change, and the light already has a cooler hue, too. Always a slow, arduous process here in GA, from summer to fall. And, grant it, fall really lasts only for about 2 weeks here. We still all love the break from the HOT weather. Now if we could just get some rain…

Every year since Will was born (okay, just the past 2 years) we go out to Uncle Bob’s farm and ride on the dust-infested hay-ride. There is also much trepidation concerning the maize maze. I mean, really, the last thing I want is my last thought being “I am lost in a maze of corn”.
And let’s not forget the “petting zoo”: a ramshackle stable with very pathetic-looking animals hiding under cages of overfed rabbits, staring off into space like they have been Prozac’ed to within an inch of sanity. All in all, we look forward to it each year. It really is a bit of fun, and Will actually liked the animals and petted them all (and washed his hands vigorously afterwards to get any creepy pathogens off). The bee boxes are even cool.
But watching the “city kids” run around with their shirts over their mouths to diffuse the smell of animal manure and watching their fear of being stung by a harmless honey bee is really how I justify giving Uncle Bob 25 bucks to walk in the door: weekend entertainment at its best! Oh, and did I mention there is a really old washing machine OUTSIDE? Very cool.

I spent my Saturday out on the lake watching DRAGON BOAT races. I know you are all thinking, “What in holiness is DRAGON BOAT racing?” (yes, it must be in all caps). DRAGON BOAT racing is a lot like crew, but with these, um… well, DRAGON BOAT’s. Oh phooey, I can’t explain it, but it was a lot of fun watching everyone race and get wet. I was the Rotary’s 2nd string photog for the day, so I stayed on safe dry land with a clear view of some of the boats who decided to take a dip. Never stand up in a DRAGON BOAT.
Here are a few from the end of the day:

And here is what a DRAGON BOAT looks like in all its glory:

Wednesday is the beginning of my week. I shoot Wednesday through Saturday, so I am all off Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. This is why my blog is always so sad in the beginning of the week. Anyway, on Tuesday, my day off, I saw this cool field and decided to dip in and get a few shots of Will. He is growing so fast, and my camera can’t keep up. Soon, I will be the proud owner of a Three-Year-Old Boy. The idea of that is just too crazy and too big to fit into Sun-Tues.
Here he is, in the field. You know how I love my fields, but I love the setting sun’s light just as much.

I even love the bruises he always has on his legs
